Slip of Tongue...
Did you know that you have one of the most powerful weapons in the world?
It has the ability to hold life and death,
To build or destroy,
To bring light or darkness.
That weapon is our TONGUE.
I would love to say that wield that weapon like a super ninja,
But it would be more accurate to say,
I'm a clumsy baby with a thousand bruises of my own doing.
The theme of this week for me is "Why did I have to say that?! Arrgghhh!!!".
I've stuck my foot in my mouth so much this week that it might as well just stay there for the rest of the week... and it's only Monday. (Doh!)
One of the things that is happening for me as I grow with Jesus is,
The things that didn't bother me before start to bother me now,
As Holy Spirit turns up the sensitivity to the things that grieve Him,
It grieves me too.
I didn't know what it was at first.
I was just very bothered,
Then very irritated,
Even by the fact that I was irritated.
I wanted to shake it off saying "What the heck? Sttooppp iiiiit!",
But I dare not,
I wanted to ignore it,
But I knew I wasn't supposed to.
I was tempted to just want to say "I don't care!",
But I did.
What an internal battle between flesh and spirit!!
When those two are at war,
I know JUST the thing to tackle the situation...
God's WORD.
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
