Asking for Directions...

Imagine traveling across country from Florida to California on the highway and we think we should just fly on I-10 all across the country as fast as possible.

That's what our human minds think logically.

BUT...

What our human minds can never predict is the 5 accidents clogging up the freeway, 2 flat tires you will get from road debris, 4 hours of roadside assistance delays, etc.

HOWEVER...

There is someone who KNOWS all this and can guide us through efficiently.
He's a divine GPS called Holy Spirit.

When Holy Spirit is our GPS,
He may nudge us get off the freeway in Huntsville, Alabama for a day to enjoy the festival, which leads to meeting a new life-long friend!
Or detour you to Bozeman, Montana to enjoy the summer trails and meet the love of your life.
Or drop you into Yellowstone to marvel at his creation and get divine revelation for your next big thing!

Our human minds can never calculate all these factors.
It's impossible for us.
But not for Holy Spirit.
His foresight is so vast and infinite, He doesn't miss a single thing.
He has the perfect view that can optimize our life path.

Our view is so stinking small it's like staring into a small, dark corner.
If we truly understood how small our view was,
And grasped how infinitely broader Holy Spirit view is,
We would never try to navigate our life with our own caveman tools.
Instead we would rely on God's real-time internal GPS, Holy Spirit.

So how do you start?
Ask questions.
Lots of them.
Asking Holy Spirit DETAILED questions is not natural for most people.
We ask immature yes or no questions like...
"Should I do this, yes or no?" and then we STOP there.
That's barely scratching the surface.
Most people forget to ask for details after the "yes".

That's a lot like...
Finding out you got a building permit but not getting the actual architectural plans and you start hammering away and building blindly.

We do that a lot. ^_^

Another way to look at it...

Imagine God like an infinitely wise billionaire parent.
Then imagine a college age child asking if he should go into the business field and Father God approves.
What should the kid do next?
Leave or ask more questions?
If you have an infinitely wise and wealthy parent with tons of experience, it would be a tragic waste to NOT ask any questions, right?

Questions such as...
- Who should I talk to?
- What classes should I take?
- Should I go to college?
- Should I start a business?
- Should I do an internship?
- What's the next step I should take?

There's literally so many questions we should be asking God at least once that we don't.
We make so many decisions without Holy Spirit and He's like "Uuuh... I never told you to do that right now. Your timing is off. Why aren't you asking me about that?"

Because we forget to ask, we end up wasting time and making WAY more mistakes than if we asked Holy Spirit for directions.

So I encourage you today to ask Holy Spirit more questions.
- How do you want me to do this?
- How should I say that? What words do you want me to say?
- Does this sound good?
- When do you want me to do this?
- Does this strategy ok to do?
- What do you want to tell me about ____?
- What do you mean? Can you tell me more?

The list goes on.
They are basic, simple questions.
Just practice asking Holy Spirit.
You'll be pleasantly surprised by what response you get.
When you do, your faith will grow because...

"Faith comes by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God".

Cheers to your growth!}
