God in our Foundation... Happy Birthday America!
Did you know that God is DEEPLY rooted in the foundation of this country?
The more I learn about how much GOD was a part of the process,
The more I see how our founding fathers intentionally intertwined God in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution,
The more I see that our country's birth was God inspired and led,
The more I fall in love with the this country,
The more I fall in love with our nation,
The more I fall in love with our homeland,
The more I want to shout "God Bless America!".
I give credit to Dutch Sheets in his "Give Him 15" posts on 6/22/2023 and 7/3/2023. He compiled this information so beautifully from many different sources.
Here is a trail of quotes and facts from our nation's history that show how integral God was in our country's foundation and belief system.
1) In 1643, John Winthrop, who stated that “we shall be as a city on a hill…”
2) The New England Confederation Constitution (New Plymouth, New Haven, Massachusetts, and Connecticut) had these words...
“Whereas we all came to these parts of America with the same end and aim, namely, to advance the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to enjoy the liberties of the Gospel thereof with purities and peace, and for preserving and propagating the truth and liberties of the Gospel.”
3) William Penn was the founder of Pennsylvania he included in his first legislative act, “The Great Law of Penn,” to say “Whereas the glory of Almighty God and the good of mankind is the reason and the end of government, and government itself is a venerable ordinance of God...let there be established laws as shall best preserve true Christian and Civil liberty, in opposition to all unchristian, licentious, and unjust practices, whereby God can have His due…”
4) "One hundred six of America’s first 108 colleges and Universities were founded on the Christian faith. Students at Harvard and Yale were required to read the Scriptures twice daily. Harvard’s founders stated: ‘All knowledge without Christ is vain.’ Its motto was ‘For Christ and The Church.’ Yale’s founders stated that ‘Every student shall consider the main end of his study is to know God in Jesus Christ…’ Princeton’s motto was ‘Under God’s Power She Flourishes.’. The first president of Princeton, Jonathan Dickenson, said, ‘Cursed be all learning that is contrary to the Cross of Christ.’ The great pastor, Jonathan Edwards, was the 3rd president of Princeton."
5) Noah Webster, who published the first American Dictionary of the English language in 1828 said, “Education is useless without the Bible.”
“The Moral principles and precepts contained in the Scriptures ought to form the basis of all our civil constitutions and laws…All the miseries and evils which men suffer…proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible.”
Webster also said, “The principles of genuine liberty, and of wise laws and administrations, are to be drawn from the Bible and sustained by its authority. The man, therefore, who weakens or destroys the divine authority of that book may be accessory to all the public disorders which society is doomed to suffer.”
6) In 1787, 11 years after the Declaration of Independence, there was a meeting for creating the constitution, but it was rapidly falling apart. People were leaving, deep division among the leaders and everything was at a stalemate. Then Benjamin Franklin, an 81 year old respected governor of Pennsylvania spoke as everyone listened.
"In this situation of this Assembly, groping as it were in the dark to find political truth, and scarce able to distinguish it when presented to us, how has it happened, Sir, that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly appealing to the Father of lights to illuminate our understanding?"
"In the beginning of the Contest with Great Britain, when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayer in this room for Divine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a superintending Providence in our favor."
"To that kind Providence, we owe this happy opportunity of consulting in peace on the means of establishing our future national felicity. And have we now forgotten that powerful Friend? Or do we imagine we no longer need His assistance? "
"I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth - that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?"
"I, therefore, beg leave to move - that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessing on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business, and that one or more of the clergy of this city be requested to officiate in that service."
7) Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a National Fast Day, on March 30, 1863 just before Gettysburg.
"Whereas, it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history: that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord…"
"We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious Hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own."
"Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!"
"It behooves us then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness."

Don't you just love this country even more?
The greatest leaders of our nation's history had POWERFUL faith in God and CHOSE to put God in the center of decisions and moral values. This saved our country many times over from ruinous destruction.
Do we realize how much God has blessed us?
Do we realize we are a BABY nation in years but a world super power in strength?
Does it even make logical sense?
Has ANY other country been able to do that or even come close?
Nope!
Nota!
Zilch!
It leaves you scratching your head.
So how did it happen?
How was it possible?
GOD.
"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."
God blessed this country because of it's STRONG roots in spreading the gospel and living according to His will.
God blessed this country that came together in fasting and prayer to overcome challenges and receive His wisdom.
God blessed this country that had a beautiful series of leaders that held tight onto faith as the most important guiding light for this country.
God blessed this country that called itself "One Nation Under God".
We truly are a blessed country.
Blessed by God,
Not by our might,
Not by our intelligence,
Not by our abilities,
Not by anything human,
Only by the Lord of Lords,
King of Kings,
The only one true God.
Now we must FIGHT to rebuild our foundations.
Our country has strayed,
Our leaders have forgotten,
Our people have turned.
God is no longer the center as He once was,
God's values are not cherished as it once was,
God has been removed in far too many places.
What can we do about it now?
How can we fight such a battle?
Where do we even start?
I have good news, friends.
There are groups out there that have been fighting for decades for our country.
They use the most effective spiritual weapon that God gave us.
PRAYER.
"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
Prayer done right is like a SPIRITUAL nuclear bomb in the enemy's camp.

If you care for this country's future,
If you are deeply worried for this nation,
If you burn with a fire to conquer evil in this country,
But don't know how,

If you don't know how to pray, there are tons of prayers that people post that you can read and simply AGREE to in prayer.
That literally means you read it and say "God, I agree with this prayer. Please do that."
So here's step-by-step on what to do.

Step 2) You can pray then or pick a time that you want to pray. You can even sign for a 30 minute time slot to be part of a movement to cover the country in prayer 24/7.
Step 3) Click on one of the 4 buttons you want to pray about - News, Leaders, Policy, Community.
When you click on each of the buttons, it will display prayers others have posted. Isn't it great that you don't have to be a prayer "expert" to do this? After you read a prayer that you agree with just say in your heart, "Yes, Lord. I agree with this prayer. Do this." You can add your own thoughts and words at anytime.
You can do this while you are taking a walk, at the gym or in a quiet time of prayer.
ANYTHING is infinitely better than nothing.
There you go!
If you do this, you are a PRAYER WARRIOR!
You are fighting for this country in prayer.
The amazing things is that YOUR prayer counts!
It's another nuclear missile to fire into the enemy's camp.
To destroy and dismantle their plans and schemes.

So you NO LONGER have to feel powerless to change the direction of this country

This takes away any excuse for not praying for the country.
This takes away any hopelessness in thinking you can't help turn this country around.
