God's Retirement Plan...
Do you have plans of RETIREMENT?
Does it set you up for comfort and certainty?
Does it just require your diligence and intellect?
Are you working your butt off to make it happen?
Just one question...
Did YOU come up with the plan or did God?
Is the plan you have what God wants or what YOU want?
Did you ASK God about it?
Do you know what HE wants?
Or are you just asking God to bless YOUR plan?
For the entrepreneurs out there,
We're used to "making things happen",
Thinking "I can do it",
And it's a hard habit to break,
Especially when it comes to your future success and comfort.
But the KEY question is...
How much of the plan is YOUR plan vs God's plan?
If you've said these things, it's a red flag that your plan may have a lot more of YOU than God...
"I need to have a cash flow of XXX so I can maintain my lifestyle",
"I want to build passive income and then I can...",
"If I can just get to XXX I can really spend more time with God".
"out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks"
The phrases above are centered around what "I" want more than God.
The language above holds firm to,
MY plans,
MY comfort,
MY lifestyle.
When Jesus said to the rich young ruler, "come, follow Me", He was really telling the rich young ruler to lay down HIS plans, HIS wealth and HIS comfort but it turned out he couldn't.
The rich young ruler "was deeply dismayed by these words, and he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property."
It's not that a retirement plan is bad or evil,
But the attachment to it ABOVE God's will.
Just as the rich young ruler couldn't let go of his wealth it was asked of him,
How attached are you to YOUR plan, YOUR wealth, YOUR retirement?
If God wanted to give you an mission to serve Him but it required you to REALLY, TRULY surrender everything, would you?
If God told you not to worry about your retirement plan and to JUST follow Him, would you?
Is your heart really truly postured to "seek FIRST the kingdom of God and his righteousness"?
I know this goes against every bit of business planning logic,
And every wealth building, passive income tactic,
And it can seem just down right foolish.
Bingo!
"God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong"
God will use the people that will do whatever He says whenever He say WITHOUT holding onto their wealth, comfort or retirement.
At the end of the day, do you TRUST that God's retirement plan for you is far superior than yours?
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
"Dear Heavenly Father,
Show me Your way,
Teach me Your ways,
Grant me understanding in Your ways,
So that I may FOLLOW You wholeheartedly.
Remove my fears about retirement,
Remove my fears about provision,
Remove my fears about old age,
Remove my fears about working.
Jesus take the wheel,
And restore Godly work in my life,
That I may experience life giving work,
Instead of life draining work.
May I no longer 'survive' work until retirement,
But may I retire in Your arms now,
And thrive in my daily assignment from You,
May I retire in Your will daily,
And be rested and rejuvenated by it every day.
Lord lead me in Your plans,
Remove my plans from my heart,
Forgive me for the kingdoms I've built for myself,
Help me turn to Your kingdom and ONLY You.
In Jesus name, Amen."
