Jesus Wants the Invite...

Who doesn't like to be invited?
Who doesn't like to know that they are loved or wanted?
So does Jesus!

There's a story of Jesus shortly after He was resurrected,
And when His disciples still didn't know He was alive,
A couple of them were walking to a village and talking about the big incident.
Jesus joins them on their walk but they don't know it's Him,
And they are all talking the whole walk there.
As the two disciples arrive at their destination,
Still not recognizing Jesus,
Jesus makes it appear that He is going on further without them,

"As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther."

BUT...
He really wanted to be with them,
He was simply waiting for the INVITATION.

"But they urged Him strongly, 'Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.' So He went in to stay with them."

Jesus is a gentleman,

He will never knock down the door of our hearts,
He will never use brute force to make us love Him.
Instead, He patiently waits for us to INVITE Him,
Not only into the big situations,
But the little ones as well.

It's like having a spouse in the same room with you,
And can be engaged or ignoring each other.
To engage is to converse, communication, connect,
By saying something like "Honey, what do you think of this?",
Or "Honey, how was your day?"

Jesus wants to have the small talks with you too.

He doesn't JUST want to be in the same room with you,
He wants to exchange dialogue with you,
He wants you to INVITE Him into a conversation,
He wants you to INVITE Him in a situation,
So He can connect with You throughout the day.

Do you make Jesus feel engaged or ignored in Your life?
It's easy to take the ones closest to you for granted,
It's easy to neglect them unintentionally,
And it's the same with Jesus.

So as a post-Christmas present to Him,
INVITE Jesus into a situation or conversation you normally wouldn't,
Ask Him a question about a small thing that you normally wouldn't,
Seek His thoughts on a micro-decision you normally wouldn't ask,
I think it will make Jesus very happy. ^_^

"Dear Heavenly Father,

Teach me to INVITE You into more areas of my life.
Remind me that You WANT to be INVITED,
That you enjoy being a part of the little things and big things.

Help me find JOY in living out the details with You,
Help me experience child-life faith by INVITING You,
Believing that You love doing SMALL things with me,

Help me draw closer to you everyday,
One INVITATION at a time.

In Jesus name, Amen."

Cheers to INVITING Jesus into more areas of your life!
