Lord vs Savior - Which One...?
I was a butt head.
A big one.
Regarding God or church for a long time.
I lived as a bare minimum Christian for many years.
The thing is...
I'm not a bare minimum type of gal.
In everything else...
I'm kinda balls to the walls.
It's kind of a problem... (understatement of the year)
And yet, here I was doing bare minimum with Jesus... for 20+ years. O_o
(Maybe you can say I went balls to the walls being bare minimum? Just kidding. :P)
What I realize now is that there is difference between Jesus being my Lord vs Jesus being my Savior.
Those two words are often paired together... "Lord and Savior".
It sounds very "holy" to say Jesus is "Lord and Savior" of my life, but is He?
Let's break this down...
What is "Savior"?
This one is easier.
Savior means Jesus saved me from eternal death.
He saved my soul.
When I die, I will go to heaven and be with Jesus.
Done.
Great.
Every person who accepts Jesus will have this.
It's the simplest one.
Now the rubber hits the road...
What is "Lord"?
This one is less obvious.
Wait, is this different from "Savior"?
Yes.
How?
When someone is Lord over your life, what does that mean?
Who do you listen to?
Who do you obey?
Who do you go for advice?
Who do you seek out?
Who do you spend time with?
Who do you desire to please?
That would be your Lord.
Who is your Lord?
Is it you?
Is it money?
Is it family?
Is it kids?
Is it work?
Is it social media?
Is it your image?
Is it your body?
Is it your face, hair, make-up?
Is it your spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend?
Or is it Jesus?
It's one thing to say Jesus is your Savior, it's a whole other thing to REALLY make Him your Lord AND Savior.
So which one are you?
Lord or Savior... or none or both?
Food for thought, eh?
There's no shame in realizing "Holy crap, Jesus is NOT Lord of my life! Oops!"
Now you know.
Solution is simple.
Repent and ask Jesus for help.
"Dear Jesus,
I'm so sorry.
I didn't know You weren't lord of my life.
I'm sorry I had other lords in my life.
I repent. Forgive me.
Help me change.
Change my heart O God.
Make me more like You.
Help me 'Seek first the kingdom of God'.
Amen."
This is the thing most WORTH pursuing in your whole life.
Don't EVER give up.
God's got you!
Cheers to making Jesus the LORD of your life!
Go get 'em tiger!
