Spirit of Control in Business...

We all want to succeed in business and in life.
It goes without saying.

But in that pursuit, the need to control grows stronger and surrender to God slowly dwindles away.
Before you know it, it's normal to control everything and surrender almost nothing.

We think we know so much.
We think we should do X to get Y.
We think the only way to succeed is to grind it out.

With all the human proof out there, is there room to arugue?
Is there room for God to step in and teach us anything?
Are we even looking or seeking Him at all?
What room have we left in business for God?

Today, I want to discuss the Spirit of Control that is in all of us.
The need to acheieve certain outcomes in a specific time.
The need to maintain control of all aspects of life without letting go.
The drive that uses human force vs. the power of God.

Are we supposed to "grind" everyday?

"For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

This is a direct contradiction to what God says.

And yet, we accept it as a norm and a fact of life.
I'm not saying that if it's hard, don't do it.

But there is something fundamentally wrong with expecting to "grind" it out everyday.
There's something wrong with EXPECTING heavy burdens to stay,
To tough it out alone, by grit alone.

If we feel like we have to GRIND all the time, something is off.
It should be a red flag.
Something is not right.

Here's the illusion.
When we feel like we are grinding, we feel in CONTROL.
When we feel the pressure in our own hands, we feel in CONTROL.
Even if our knuckles are white and our grip is tiring, the sense of CONTROL is worth it.

The truth is the Spirit of Control can trap you.
The need for security that doesn't exist can imprison you.
Drive for money, position, power is often a need that doesn't serve you or God.

"Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the LORD?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God."

This is not to say to live poor, broke and in poverty.
God wants his children to thrive and prosper.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

The key is doing all things,
Having all things,
Desiring all things within God's will.

Money, success and wealth is fleeting.
There's no guarantee what you make today will be here tomorrow or for the rest of your life.

"Do not toil to acquire wealth; be discerning enough to desist. When your eyes light on it, it is gone, for suddenly it sprouts wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven."

We are not guaranteed tomorrow.
We are not done after our life here on earth.
There's so much more.
There's infinitely more.
This life here on earth is a drop in the bucket.

I implore you to surrender.
I implore you to let go.
I implore you to allow God's peace into your life.
To cover you and annoint you in a whole new way.
For fresh new beginnings,
New possibilities of HOW God operates in you, in your business.

God is not meant to be stuck in a church, under a steeple only.
Real church is the body of Christ.
It's relationships.
It's fellowship.
It's not a building.
It's not a pulpit.
It's not a checklist
It's not a set of rules.

Those are things created by man.

God is beyond that and so much more.
Yes, we should fellowship.
Yes, gathering in a building is fine.
Yes, having a spiritual leader is fine.

But don't forget about the REAL God that is infinitely powerful.
One that can light your sould on fire.
One that can use your business if you surrender it to Him.
One that can flow through you like a mighty river.

Remember who you serve.
Remember who you are in Christ.
Remember
 His promises and instructions.
