Strategically Desperate...

There is a cycle I want to break,
There is a roller coaster I want to get off of.

It's the up and down and the back and forth of,
Being DESPERATE for Jesus in the hard times,
Then being NOT-so-desperate in the better times.

There's something about being in hard times,
That has us clinging to Jesus for dear life,
That has us drawing closer to Him.

DESPERATION opens the heart,
Has us in surrender,
So Jesus can take over our life.

Why must we be DESPERATE only when things are falling apart.
Why can't we be DESPERATE when things are going well?
If that seems upside down,
God is upside down.

"But God chose the foolish things of the world to put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world to put to shame the things that are strong"

How can we STRATEGICALLY stay in DESPERATION?
How can we stay thirsty for Him as if in a parched dry land?

"I spread out my hands to you; I thirst for you like a parched land."

There is a way,
Because God told us to do it,
And whenever He tells us to do something,
It's GOOD for us,
And He always provides a way.

DESPERATE vs NOT-DESPERATE,
It's a HEART issue.
Our heart for God gets hot based on circumstance,
It cools to lukewarm hot based on circumstance,
And that's just plain old rude.

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked"

So if you that our heart is wicked,
That we are unfaithful to a God,
Who is unwaiveringly faithful to us,
Repent and ask for help.

God specializes in CHANGING hearts.

"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."

It's time to get PROACTIVE about our Holy DESPERATION.
Bring in the big guns,
The Holy Spirit guns,
He will protect us from being a fair weather friend to God.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me."

Here's a 1 week Loving Challenge:
1) Thank God for His faithfulness.
2) Repent of your unfaithfulness.
3) Ask God DAILY for a Holy DESPERATION for Him.

This is a PROACTIVE approach to an ongoing problem.
Don't let circumstance dictate your hotness for God,
Let God help you and keep you HOT.

So let's STRATEGICALLY pray for Holy DESPERATION...

"Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your faithfulness,
Even when I'm not.
Thank You that You don't get lukewarm about me,
Like I do about You.

Forgive me for my flakiness,
For my wayward heart,
For only being DESPERATE for You when I need something,
I want that to change that part.

I want to ALWAYS be DESPERATE for You,
I want to ALWAYS be THIRSTY for You,
As if in a parched dry land.

Give me a Holy DESPERATION for You,
Make my heart CLING to Your every word,
Have my soul THIRST for Your truth,
And HUNGER for Your presence.

Change my heart O God,
May every drop of your Spirit taste like sweet honey,
May every moment in Your presence heal my soul,
May every thought and word come from You this day.

Let me not forget who You are,
Let me not take you for granted,
Let me not stray away from Your will.

I love You,
I praise You,
Make me DESPERATE for You,
In Jesus name, Amen."
