The Sensitivity Game... w/God
The irony is laughable...
When I thought of "sensitivity" before, I saw it as a weakness.
Coming from an entrepreneur background of driving, striving and acheiving, there was no room for sensitivity.
To me, sensitivity meant crying or being emotional.
It meant being out of control with your emotions, a constant nuisance.
I wanted nothing to do with it.
I would avoid it.
I saw it as an unnecessary weakness in the operation of life.
Well...
It turns out that when it comes to God, He's all about The Sensitivity Game.
It turns out that even the smartest man in history (King Solomon) asked for his heart to be sensitive to God's word.
It turns out that when comes to leveling up and doing life with God,
It's ALL ABOUT being sensitive to God's voice.
The strongest spiritual giant is the most sensitive to God's voice.
The mightiest spiritual warrior is most obedient to God's command.
It's not driving. (by our will)
It's not being harsh. (by our ambition)
It's not grinding. (by our desires)
It's not forceful. (by our aggression)
It's gentle.
In so many ways there are things about being a driven entrepreneur that contradict the way we're supposed to operate with God.
It's intruiging and puzzling at the same time.
Why would God make us this way if there's so much to change?
The truth is, as children we were all precious, innocent souls that only wanted to love and be loved.
We didn't worry about tomorrow or needlessly fuss about today.
We knew how to be happy,
Be present in the moment,
And enjoy life.
We had no concept of rich or poor.
No matter what house you were in,
It was home.
No matter who you had for parents,
You loved them and they hung the moon.
Through life and social standards, expectations and the greed of our own flesh, we begin to wander off.
We begin to try to pry things open with our bare hands when God shut the door.
We rely only on our knoweldge and gifts and don't check in with God.
We think we are so great and forget about God.
God is an after thought.
God is a security blanket.
God is an insurance policy that never gets used.
But as you start coming back to Christ.
As you start being curious again about God's plan for you.
You realize...
"I need to hear God.
I need to know His plans for me.
I need a way to communicate with him regularly."
In order to do that,
You need to get sensitive.
You've tuned Him out for so long that "listening" feels foreign and weird.
You've been so busy in your head, you don't even know how to quiet it down.
It's ok.
Most of us are that way.
The good news is, there's a way to fix it.
There's a way back into God's arms and comfort.
There's a way to become sensitive to God once more.
First, realize this.
Sensitivity to God's voice is awesome.
Sensitivity to God's whispers is amazing.
Every time you become more sensitive, you level-up.
So ask yourself this question...
"What is the Holy Spirit making me more sensitive to this week?"
Ask this question every day, every week.
Constantly SEEK God's voice and His direction.
If you can't hear Him clearly YET,
Then just NOTICE the small things that God is tickling your brain about.
Listen for it.
Wait for it.
Seek it.
Desire it.
"O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water."
Know this.
Growing with God is a Sensitivity Game.
Have fun with it.
Celebrate every time you NOTICE more things.
That means your sensitivity leveled up.
Rejoice when something BOTHERS you more that didn't before.
That means your spirit is more aware.
Give thanks when you FEEL a nudge you didn't before.
That means God's voice is coming through.
Every time you level up in your Sensitivity, it's VICTORY!
One step,
One day,
One breath at a time.
DESIRE to get sensitive to God moving in your life.
Ask Him to saturate your mind, desires and thoughts.
You're on the right track.
Keep seeking.
Never give up.
Today, acknowledge the Sensitivity Game you are in with God.
Commit to becoming MORE sensitive to God's voice in your life.
Yearn it.
Seek it.
And you will find it.
Why?
Cuz God said so.
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you"
If you are earnestly seeking God, what do you think His answer will be?
Yes, He's going to welcome you with open arms and teach you His ways and His voice.
Believe.
Trust.
Have Faith.
Say "YES" to sensitivity.
It's the true way to connect with God.
The real deal.
The only way to live.
"Dear God,
Make me more sensitive to Your voice,
Your desires,
Your whispers and nudges.
Show me the way.
I don't know how.
Meet me where I'm at.
In Jesus name Amen."
