Thy Will or My Will

My friend Felecia loves to travel and experience different cultures and communities. One day she found herself at a townhall meeting for an Amish community. Whaaatt?!?!

If you don't know, the Amish are very protective about their way of life and tend not to let outside influences in their community. So the topic  putting a new stop sign at a road leading into town was a hot one!

The Amish are typically a laid back, kind group of people but at this townhall, the discussion got heated fast.

Angry voices,
Loud retorts,
One talking over one another..
The meeting was soon blurred by the sound of yelling and screaming.

Then out of nowhere,
In the midst of the chaos,
A man's voice broke through the noise as he said 5 words that shocked the whole room.

"Thy will or my will".
The man pointed his finger up to the sky as he spoke these words.
A hush fell over the room.
Arguments, yelling, and screaming halted.
The energy shifted.

Bodies and faces froze as the meaning hit them like a ton of bricks.
The spirit of anger and rage left the room and peaceful, self-reflection took over.
Heads began to nod as they shifted their focus to a greater power.
Shoulders began to relax as conversations started over with a spirit of cooperation, unity and love.

Five words hushed an angry mob.
Five words shifted the perspective of everyone in an instant.
Five words reset a room full of people focusing on "I want, I think, I need".
Five words took them to...
What does God want? His will, His desires.
It's amazing the peace it brings when we look to see beyond out selfish desires and open up to a greater way and thought.

It can be awe-inspiring.
It silencea room.
It can hush an angry mob.

As you go about your day today, consider how much of your plans are "Thy will or My will".
When you're in tuned with "Thy will"...
Your burdens gets lighter.
Your thoughts gets happier.
You're most trusting.
You're most thoughtful and caring.
This is the beauty of being aligned with God's will and not our own.

In real estate, it's so natural to get into goal planning, crunching dollars and talking numbers...
All without God.

It's easy to forget that he wants to lead you and provide for you.
Instead, it's easy for us to give him a honey-do list for our wants and needs.

We often tell God what we want instead of asking him what he wants for us.

The great news is, God wants to provide in bigger ways than we had planned.
He wants us to be happier in greater ways than we knew about.
He wants us to be rich... in wealth, relationships and changing lives.

He wants us to give...
Not just dollars but our hearts, mind, and body so he can heal, restore and launch it to a new level only he can provide.

So ask yourself today...

Is this Thy Will or My Will?
"Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

Cheers to your success!
