How to Track Without Going Crazy
Do you ever feel like you're flying blind in your business? Ever wake up in the middle of night thinking "I wonder if that lead was followed up on?". It's crazy but most of us live it everyday.
There are many reasons to track your business, but there are two I want to focus on that means the most.
1) Know Your Target - If you don't have a target or goal, that means you are pretty much flying by the seat of your pants with a "hope" of doing better than you did before. Without a goal you can't make any plans and with out any plans you have nothing to keep you on track. This leads us to our next point.
2) Know If You're On Course - If you don't have a goal, you don't have a plan and therefore you never really know if you're on track or not. On track for what? You don't know what to use as a reference point to see if you're on track or not. The important part of knowing if you're on course is the ability to make correction action if you're not. These are best if caught early on so your actions can be "tweaks" rather than overhauls.
In this business, there are just so many things we need to keep track of. To name a few, you'd want to reward your rockstars and take immediate corrective action for the slackers; track lead generation hours, appointments, and closings; and make sure that everyone is calling leads during the best hours of the day for the most conversions.
Without regular and timely team performance tracking, you risk losing business opportunities, your team might not be as productive as they should be, and sooner or later, you could be losing income.
