What's Right in God's Eyes?
Did you know that when George Washington came down with a cold, they did something called "blood-letting".
This is a practice if draining a sick person's blood to remove a portion of their illness. It was supposed to improve their condition.
On the day George Washington died, they kept draining his blood and removed 40 percent of his blood in 8 hours!
OMG!! What the heck?!?!
It sounds crazy now but 200 years ago it was the "smart" thing to do.
200 years later we can see how ridiculous that was, but what are things we doing now that are just as foolish?
What are the newest "hacks" or "successful" practices that are actually wise in our own eyes but NOT in line with God's word?
At the end of the day, we must be ready to reply like Peter and John did when they were threatened to be imprisoned or flogged.
"But Peter and John replied, 'Which is right in GOD’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him?'"
Let's take a look at our lives.
1) TOO BUSY ALL THE TIME.
Is our daily motto, "there's never enough time"?
Did you know that Satan will drown you in your talents if he can't use it for evil?
Did you know what God wants us to REST and take TIME with Him?
This is a non-negotiable that has been negotiated by human hands.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."
Are we allowing ourselves to REST in God or are we too busy being too busy?
"[The Lord] makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul;"
What are we doing that's foolish?
Why are we too busy to spend QUIET time with Jesus 1-on-1?
Are you bleeding yourself dry without knowing it?
What's RIGHT in God's eyes?
To slow down and seek Him or keep running yourself down?
2) CHASING THE "THINGS".
Have you ever said "When I make $XXX or accomplish YYY, THEN I'll serve God fully".
Did you know that is OPPOSITE to what God says?
Did you know that is us serving God with HUMAN methods rather than God's?
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
Is it possible you are seeking YOUR way first and then God's? Ooops?!
If your current pace is unsustainable,
If you know that you're on the path to burn-out,
It may be a red flag that you're bleeding yourself dry.
What's RIGHT in God's eyes?
To give Him YOUR plan or to seek GOD's plans?
The thing is...
It's easy to get caught up in life and that's what Satan wants.
"Satan comes disguised as an angel of light".
Satan tricks us with HUMAN concepts of success and productivity,
And that is why we must ALWAYS ask,
"Which is RIGHT in God's eyes?"
We must get our answers from God's word everyday,
So we don't end up blood-letting ourselves to death.
Here's 3 steps to reverse the blood-letting on our LIFE...
Step 1) Daily QUIET TIME with God.
Take 15 minutes each day to remove all distractions and sit with God in SILENCE.
Make it an appointment in your calendar, an appointment with God.
Turn off all phones. No buzzing. No notification. Just you and God.
Step 2) ASK God question and get answers.
Grab a pen and paper and ask the following questions...
"God, what do You have to say about my life and my pace?"
"God, what is it that YOU want me to do?"
Then sit and WAIT in silence up to 2 minutes and write down ANYTHING that comes to mind.
Step 3) Get DETAILS from God.
Whatever answer you got, ask for more details.
"God, can you tell me more? Can you clarify?"
Then sit and WAIT in silence up to 2 minutes and write down ANYTHING that comes to mind.
Rinse and repeat daily for 1 week and see what answers you collect.
Remember, ask the same questions. Dig deep. Don't move on anything until you have clarity.
"Dear Heavenly Father,
Help me sit with You in silence and peace,
Help me find your heartbeat and listen to Your words,
Help me slow down enough to sense and feel You,
Break me free from the daily chaos that keeps me from You.
Show me what YOU want for me in my life,
Help me lay down my plans and seek YOURS,
Help me stop the bleeding,
Restore my physical, spiritual, mental health,
In Jesus name, Amen."
Cheers to stopping the bleeding and getting some nutritional God time daily! ^_^
